The Ultimate Guide to Pet-Friendly Events This Spring

Spring is here, and it’s time to start planning some fun events for you and your furry friend. With the weather warming up and the flowers blooming, there are plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the season with your pet. Here’s a guide to pet-friendly events this spring that you won’t want to miss.

  1. Dog-Friendly Hikes: Hiking is a great way to get some exercise and fresh air, and there are plenty of dog-friendly hiking trails around. Many national and state parks allow dogs on leashes, so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery with your furry friend by your side. Just be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for both of you. If your not sure of hikes in your area try the app All Trails or OS Map when i have used these they show hikes around me or the area me and Nala are going to. It also tells you the distance and the time in which it should take to complete. (Unless you get lost like i do and take a wrong turn and it takes a little longer but the extra views are always amazing.)
  2. Pet-Friendly Festivals: Spring is festival season, and many events are pet-friendly. From food festivals to music festivals, there are plenty of opportunities to bring your pet along for the fun. Just be sure to check the event’s website beforehand to make sure pets are allowed, and bring a leash and waste bags. There is also Dogfest a festive that is dedicated to dogs, all actives are dog related. These are host in different areas of the UK and hosted over a weakened so you can either go both day or one depending on the ticket you buy.
  3. Yappy Hours: Many bars and restaurants offer yappy hours, where you can bring your pet along while you enjoy a drink or a bite to eat. It’s a great way to socialize with other pet owners and let your furry friend make some new friends too. You also have the option of calling up before going to a bar or restaurant you like the look of, you may find they are also pet friendly or have a dedicated are for you to sit. There is a local restaurant I love that even has a doggie menu :).
  4. Pet Adoption Events: Spring is a popular time for pet adoption events, so why not consider adding a new furry family member to your household? You can find adoption events at local pet stores, animal shelters, and rescue organizations.
  5. Outdoor Markets: Farmers markets and outdoor markets are a great way to spend a sunny spring day, and many are pet-friendly. You can browse fresh produce, crafts, and other goods while your pet enjoys the sights and smells.
  6. Pet-Friendly 5Ks: If you’re a runner, consider participating in a pet-friendly 5K. Many events allow dogs to join in on the fun, and it’s a great way to get some exercise with your furry friend. Me and Nala have completed the Cancer Run 5k but if you really fancy a challenge with your furry friend you can try the Muddy Dog Challenge which is done by Battersea Dog and Cat Home. You can select either a 5k or a 10k but its not just a straight run they are different obstacles for you to complete to finish the cause. Having completed this one also, the plus side is usually there is a little wait as you have to let the dog infront complete it before you can go so you do have a chance to get your breath back between obstacles.
  7. Dog Shows: Spring is also the season for dog shows. You can watch purebred dogs compete in a variety of categories, or even enter your own dog if they meet the requirements. You can usually google for dog shows in your area to find any that are near you or you would consider traveling to.
  8. Beach visits: Nala loves the water so if like me you have a dog who likes to play in water why not make a trip to a local beach. I would recommend looking up if the beaches near you are dog friendly as some dogs are only allowed at certain times or not preminded during the summer season so make sure to check before you make the trip.

No matter what kind of event you choose, remember to always prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and poo bags, and keep your pet on a leash at all times unless the event specifically states otherwise. With a little planning, you and your furry friend can enjoy all the fun that spring has to offer. If you do any of these or plan your own active why not comment down below so I can also try the active with my own furry friend.
